NATIONAL PRESS RELEASE:
23rd Black Love Day, Feb. 13, 2016 Provides Peaceful Solutions to Racism, White Supremacy and Intra-Racial Prejudice

For Immediate Release:  The 23nd Black Love Day 2016 national theme “Healing the Hurt/Sharing the Solutions to Racism and Prejudice” will expose the many working solutions to the  challenging issues of racism, prejudice and racially charged violence that has spiked since President Obama’s election, creating further hurt and trauma in Black, White and other diverse communities.

Ayo Handy-Kendi, founder of Black Love Day (BLD), founder/director of the African-American Holiday Association (AAHA), the non-profit, steward of BLD and a Certified Breathologist, is putting out the world-wide and local call to action.

On Black Love Day, February 13, around the World, at 12 Noon, Handy-Kendi is calling on a collective focus on relationship actions, peace and love solutions that can be replicated and modeled.

She asks that we “affirm  visualize and offer affirmative prayer that, “the hurts of racism and prejudice heal so pain, trauma, and violence can be released for the higher vibration of love to transform us”.

In the local D.C. Metropolitan area, the 23nd, official national, Black Love Relationship Ceremony, Love & Peace Summit and Healing Circle will be held:  Sat., Feb. 13, 2016 from 9am – 7pm   and Sun, Feb. 14 from10:30- 6 pm at Galbraith A.M.E. Zion Church, 1114 Sixth Street, N.W, Wash, D.C. 20001 ( 2 blocks from Mt. Vernon Square, Metro Yellow/Green Line).  Co-sponsored by Galbraith and AAHA, the event is open to the public and will be live-streamed.  It offers sacred sounds by Earth Love Tune-Up Crew; the Ritual of Reconciliation and the demonstration of the 5 Tenets of Black Love; Breathology racial healing activities; the premiere of “Destiny”, a musical love video by recording artist Andaiye; a tribute to scholar Dr. Frances Cress Welsing; invited speakers Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Author, Dr. Kevin Washington, Pres., Black Psychologist Assoc, Joel Segal, Dir, Environmental Justice Coalition; Penny Gamble Williams, Spiritual Warrior Woman,  Sister Brenda Muhammad, NOI, and 20 other peace-maker leaders

Black Love Day is the 3rd nationally commemorated African-American Holiday (wholyday) observance of atonement, reconciliation, celebration and 24 hour demonstration of Black Love through 5 tenets (loving acts) - for The Creator, for Self, for the Black Family, the Black Community, and the Black Race.

BLD also encourages Whites in the 24 hour period to "show love in action" towards Blacks by working on their own racial attitudes and behaviors.

The goals of this day are to increase peace, stop violence, end self-hatred/ racism, and offer a spiritual, African-centered, alternative to the commercialized, and sometimes violent, Valentine's Day.

Since 1993 the first BLD, Handy-Kendi, has shared the BLD tenets and their higher love vibrations with millions on radio, t.v,  in print, on college campuses, with community organizations, and through her “The Black Love Book”,

To schedule Ayo Handy-Kendi for an interview; to acquire “The Black Love Book”; to host a Black Love Relationship Ceremony or "Ritual of Reconciliation"; or to inquire about her “Breathology Racial Healing” or “Conflict Resolution”, please contact, Rashida Thomas, publicist, 202-667-2577www.AfricanAmericanHolidays.org or info@AfricanAmericanHolidays.org
